·Participates in the development of policies, procedures and processes for the department.
·Have knowledge of the annual operating and capital budgets for staffing, supplies and equipment and ensure that expenditures are managed in the department so that actual expenses in the department are within budget.
·Participate in the monitoring, review and analyze of department activity, workload, revenue generating procedures including those that are not covered by OHIP and expense.
·Participate in reviewing process and applying lean principles to ensure the department is efficiently meeting the demands of the department’s client.
·Planning, allocating and managing ambulatory care space and facilities
·Establishes priorities to ensure that the programs are efficient with clear admission and discharge criteria to optimize the care provided while gaining financial efficiencies
Human Resource Management
o Assesses performance of the team and identifies opportunities for improvement and makes those opportunities available to the team.
o Provides opportunities for continual improvement through regular supervision performance appraisals, on-going feedback educational needs met
o Determines day to day staffing levels, to reflect the needs of the department and leads the hiring process through to completion
o Analyze and take a proactive role in the development of staff and ensure the appropriate skillset is met
o Promotes a positive work environment and leads by example
Patient Safety, Quality, Risk
o Monitors patient care activity, ensuring standards of care, best practice, and legislative requirement are met for patients within the department.
o Manages patient complaints and conducts investigations in a timely manner. Any unresolved complaints are escalated to the Director for assistance.
o Develops and participates in professional development plan for self
o Complies with accreditation standards and participates in accreditation process
Undergraduate Degree in Nursing
Mandatory RN license with the College of Nurses of Ontario
3-5 years of experience in a similar role
Experience supervising 20-30 staff
